Irresistables Heat Set Medium (IRHSP) LiquiThin is a brand new formula that is a safe, odorless, non-toxic and non-solvent based used to thin heat set paint without loss of color depth. In addition, LiquiThin will bind the paint creating a smooth and creamy mixture that will not separate so you only have to stir it once. Once cured it will leave a beautiful texture on your vinyl making it even easier for the future layers to bind to your project. LiquiThin is not to be confused with IRHSP Thinning. LiquiThin is quite liquid and will come in a bottle to be poured. IRHSP Thinning comes in a jar and the consistency is much thicker however both products will thin your paint.
LIQUITHIN: PLEASE READ!!
This revolutionary product was created to replace the use of chemical solvents. Although LiquiThin is a replacement for solvents, it is used VERY differently. It is not meant to be a watery liquid when using and you do not need to use a lot at all. The key with LiquiThin is LESS IS MORE. If you keep this in mind, you will find it easy to use and the transition will be much easier. Long gone are the days when we need multiple watery layers to build our depth and color layers. LiquiThin will build your layers much faster and you will need far less layers to achieve the same depth as you did with multiple layers using a chemical, watery solvent. LiquiThin makes paint flow but it may also make the color more transparent and creates lovely washes but can be used to make darker and more pigmented layers such as for hair painting or fantasy dolls. LiquiThin is perfect for doing details as it is a very controlled consistency and does not leave messy creases or residue behind when pouncing.
If using LiquiThin throughout your painting process, when it comes time to bake, we suggest baking it for a few more minutes than if you are not using it. We have changed our recommended baking times across the board but especially when using LiquiThin, you'll need to make sure you bake for at least 15 minutes, turning your vinyl 1/2 way through the baking cycle. This will insure that the paint is fully cured and will not be tacky. When it dries if it feels tacky at all, it is not 100% cured and you can bake it for a few more minutes. This will not hurt the vinyl. I like to always point out that the first few minutes that an oven is on it will not reach its full baking temperature for 3-4 minutes therefore you are only baking at full temp in a 10 minute cycle for 6 minutes. Being that all ovens are different, this is something that needs to be kept in mind.
There are many benefits to LiquiThin but the biggest is the fact that it is much safer to use than solvents and by using LiquiThin in place of solvents, you will avoid creating an unhealthy environment when working on your project. The product itself has no odor and there will be no fumes while and after baking. This product is NOT an oil nor a solvent and the sole purpose of this medium is to replace solvents and oils all together. There are many people who are sensitive to the chemicals in solvent because they are strong. Solvents break down the paint where as LiquiThin will not. LiquiThin was made to cure with heat and with each layer you add, you are effectively sealing your paint with no need for final varnishes unless preferred.
DIRECTIONS: Add a small amount of LiquiThin to your paint or medium to make it more fluid. LiquiThin will thin your paint and will change the paint’s flow, consistency and texture. If you want the paint to be more of a wash, use less paint and more LiquiThin but do not make it into a watery consistency. If you want a more pigmented layer, use more paint with less LiquiThin. Heat your oven to 265F/130C and bake for 10-15 minutes. After heat setting the paint, let it cool before applying the next layer. Unlike most solvents and oils LiquiThin is 100% curable. Shake well in between uses.
